The Genesis G80 mid-size luxury sedan sees a modest price bump of $ 375 for the 2018 model year, with the model also undergoing a mild styling update and receiving a new trim level and engine option.
–
Although hard to spot, changes to the sedan include revised front and rear fascias, a new 18-inch wheel design, revisions to the gauge cluster and analog clock, new infotainment features—including standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality—and an additional USB port. While improved looks and added features are noteworthy on their own, the real star of the 2018 Genesis G80 lineup is the new Sport trim.
–
Positioned between the entry-level G80 3.8, with its 311-hp 3.8-liter V-6, and the $ 57,975 G80 5.0 Ultimate, with a 420-hp 5.0-liter V-8, the $ 56,225 Sport brings the 365-hp twin-turbo 3.3-liter V-6 engine from the Genesis G90 flagship sedan into the G80’s engine bay. Helping the model live up to its name are a host of trim-specific features, including an angry-looking front fascia with a distinct grille design, tinted taillights, quad tailpipes, and a set of multispoke 19-inch wheels.
–
The Sport isn’t just a new engine and racy exterior trim, though; Genesis fits the model with upgraded rear brake rotors and retuned dampers to help it stop and turn better than its non-Sport siblings. As on all G80s, the Sport’s standard rear-wheel-drive setup can be supplanted by all-wheel drive for $ 2500.
