Twitter helps search for girl's childhood cruise holiday friend – but did they find her?

Twitter users in the USA united as they supported a woman’s attempt to track down a friend from her childhood.

A woman known only as Brianna took to Twitter to share her story in a bid to find her old pal.

She posted on the social media site that she had met the other girl during a cruise 12 years ago and become instant friends.

Brianna hoped she would be able to reunite with her companion with the force of the internet behind her and shared a photo of herself and the other girl on the holiday in 2006.

She posted on Twitter: “Hey Twitter, I met this girl on a dinner cruise in Hawaii in 2006.

“We were basically best friends for that night so I need y’all to help me find my best friend cause I miss her and I need to see how she’s doing now.

“Please retweet this so we can be reunited (sic).” She also shared the photo of the pair on the cruise.

The post has since been liked nearly 270,000 times and retweeted nearly 120,000 times.

Miraculously, the post was successful as the girl in the photo got in touch with Brianna.

Named Heidi, the woman is now an artist who appears to live in California.

She responded to Brianna’s posted with a picture of herself holding a holiday photo from the same cruise of Heidi and her family wearing matching outfits.

She captioned the snap on Twitter: “I heard you were looking for me.”

Brianna replied to the post with five heart emojis and the comment: “Omg my heart is so happy.”

Twitter users couldn’t believe the success of the story and shared their amazed reactions online.

“I’m crying, this is so beautiful!” one person wrote. Another commented: “I wanted it to happen, but I wasn’t ready when i saw it happen.” A third posted: “I really love twitter man.”

One person praised Heidi’s family’s choice to wear matching outfits. “Idk what’s cuter this friendship or the fact that your family all went for it with matching outfits.”

To make the story even more moving, Heidi replied: “I still have the dress!! My mom gave me hers, so I wear it sometimes.”

Twitter users were keen for the girls to meet up and rekindle their friendship in person.

However, Heidi explained she wasn’t in a financial position to afford the trip to meet Brianna.

She did say that the two women were now talking via a private message.

Their story inspired numerous other Twitter users to locate old friends and past crushes.

Many took to the social media platform to share their own stories and photos in a bid to find the lost connections.

“Anyone wanna help me find my kindergarten crush?” one person posted.

Another shared a photo of two girls with the caption: “This girl and I were best friends for a whole weekend about 6 years ago. I have no clue where she is but I just know it’s somewhere in Florida (sic).”

Brianna has been amazed at the power of the initial Twitter post and is now hoping she can find herself a husband in the same way.

She posted: “Sooo I’m looking for a husband as well so y’all can try to find him too while y’all search for girly. thanks.”
