When you think of the most comfortable car in the UK you’d expect vehicles such as a Rolls Royce, Range Rover or a Maybach to top the lists.

However, a driver survey of 50,000 UK motorists has voted an unexpected car as the most comfortable in the UK based on its interior and ride.

Skoda Superb clinched the top spot and was voted the most comfortable car in Britain.

It won the title over luxury saloons, sports cars, big SUVs and was claimed to be the most comfortable car to drive.

Motorists voted on cars which were less likely to make them ache after long journeys an.

Auto Express’ annual Driver Power survey asked motorists to rate the comfort of their car based on a number of factors – styling, material, front seat position, legroom and visibility.

The Superb was not the only Skoda to make the top ten either with the soon to be deceased Yeti.

Taking second place was the Lexus RX completing the top four was the Subaru Forester.

Completely the top ten were the Toyota RAV4, Subaru Outback, Volvo XC60. Kia Sportage and Ford Kuga.

In the ratings the Superb got the highest score for legroom and interior design, while the RAV4’s seat was deemed to be the most comfortable and the Volvo XC60 has the highest rated trim and materials.

Auto Express said: “Car owners were asked to rate their vehicles for interior styling, the quality of the seat covers, the general comfort of the driving position and other aspects such as visibility and legroom.

“Even if a car looks and drives well, if it’s not comfortable or enjoyable to be in, owners won’t be satisfied in the long run.

“The Skoda Superb tops the category thanks to excellent scores in a number of criteria.

“Drivers found the cabin the most stylish of all cars in our survey, while they were also most impressed with the amount of rear legroom the spacious family car offers.”
