The Walking Dead season 9 spoilers: AMC series to differ MORE from comics – here’s how

The Walking Dead fans are forever confused as to how much time has passed in the series.

With numerous time jumps and no concrete sense of place, it seems the AMC show could be taking place in any time.

And now it has been revealed there may be a slight variation between the comic book and programme’s time lines.

In Letter Hacks, comic book creator Robert Kirkman suggests there hasn’t been that much time that has passed.

He wrote: “In my mind, it’s been longer than five years since the comic started.

“I don’t like to pin things down officially, but the first 12 issues alone could have been a year.”

That’s all well and good, until a show boss hit back at Kirkman’s claims.

Senior Vice President of Skybound Entertainment, Sean Mackiewicz, said the AMC show is a little different.

He wrote in the same column: “If you follow the seasons, the bad stuff started happening later summer/early fall.

“And we’re nearing the end of winter by #12.

“My secret timeline document knows all.”

This means there could potentially be a huge gap in comic book material that doesn’t even get seen on screen.

The Walking Dead fans recently underwent a time jump.

In season nine, viewers said goodbye to Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) when he departed the show to head for a new spin-off series.

The last fans saw of him, Rick was in a helicopter with Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) heading to a mysterious land.

But back in Alexandria when viewers reconnected with the group, there was a six-year jump.

The surviving members had moved on since Rick’s disappearance and became more self-sufficient than ever before.

However, there’s danger on the way for the Alexandrians as The Whisperers are on their way.

Led by Alpha (Samantha Morton), the new villains will cause big problems for the survivors.

With one of their group already killed, who else will The Whisperers take as victims?

The Walking Dead season nine continues in 2019. Seasons 1-8 are available to stream on NOW TV.
