The Walking Dead season 8: Negan to kill THIS major character next? ‘Anyone's fair game'

It has been almost two weeks since Carl Grimes (played by Chandler Riggs) was killed off The Walking Dead.

After fans spent weeks speculating whether showrunners would actually go through with the major character’s demise, last week saw Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) burying Carl’s body.

The death has not only affected fans, as cast members have also become rattled after Carl’s removal.

Jesus (Tom Payne) has thus far seemed a pretty integral member of the core group, but as time goes on, actor Tom is becoming more unsure about his character’s safety in the show.

Speaking to press including Express.co.uk, Tom said: “[Carl’s death] throws a hand grenade into the show.

“You can predict certain things from the comic books and certain things have happened and played out.

“But it really does change everything up. For everyone.”

Each member of the cast have their own theories about where the show will head next but Tom was convinced that, whatever happened, Carl would be a huge part in it.

He continued: “We all kind of had an idea of where the show might go. I definitely said in the past that Carl — or Chandler — was the future of the show, and that made absolute sense.

“It’s a big change. Always on the show when people leave, the group dynamic changes just naturally on-screen and off-screen.

“And not to have a young voice who’s been there since the very beginning was kind of weird.”

Austin Amelio, who plays Dwight, Ross Marquand, who plays Aaron, and Tom all agreed that the cast are now constantly on their toes.

Tom added: “If Carl dies, then anyone’s fair game.

“We all definitely thought that he was never going to die.”

Will viewers see another major death before season eight is over?

The Walking Dead season 8 continues Monday at 9pm on FOX UK.
