WARNING: The following article contains spoilers from The Walking Dead season eight, episode 11.
In the latest instalment of the zombie series, Father Gabriel (played by Seth Gilliam) and Dr Harlan Carson (R. Keith Harris) found themselves at an abandoned home after their car broke down.
As they took refuge, they found antibiotics which they used to help with Gabriel’s failing eye sight.
The pair also stumbled across a car and keys as well as a map they could use to direct them back to the Hilltop community.
Unfortunately, their plan to return home did not go smoothly as Dr Carson found himself tangled in an animal trap.
He was very nearly bitten by a walker but at the last moment Gabriel managed to shoot the zombie attacking him.
Then, when they finally managed to get into the car and start the engine, the Saviors arrived.
Gabriel and Dr Carson were bundled into the back of their jeep and told they would be taken to the Saviors compound.
Determined not to face Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), Dr Carson reached for the gun of one of his captors but was shot in the chest.
He was then thrown out of the back of the jeep and left to turn into a walker as Gabriel burst into tears.
The loss of Dr Carson will not doubt be a devastating loss for Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and the Hilltop community as they have lost their medic.
The death of the doctor may not come as a surprise to many however, as some fans predicted that he would be killed off following the arrival of Siddiq (Avi Nash).
In episode nine of season eight, the mysterious newcomer revealed his medical background leading many to speculate that he would take the place of Dr Carson.
One fan noted: “The instant Siddiq mentioned that he was a doctor, the first thing I thought was Dr. Carson is not long for this world.
“Similar to how Denise was doomed when Dr. Carson was introduced to the show.”
Meanwhile on the episode, Negan revealed his latest plan to defeat his enemies as he was seen wiping walker blood on his barbed wire baseball bat and leather jacket.
Will his latest plan help him to reach the Hilltop and attack the Alexandrians?
