The Sense of an Ending: WORLD EXCLUSIVE clip with Jim Broadbent and Charlotte Rampling

The new drama, released to cinemas tomorrow (April 14) stars Broadbent as an elderly divorcee who receives a letter that re-opens memories of a relationship he had in the 1960s.

Rampling, as Veronica Ford, is the enigmatic woman at the centre of it – and the two are seen in an early moment in the above video.

The Sense of an Ending also stars Harriet Walter, Emily Mortimer, Michelle Dockery and Matthew Goode, and is written by acclaimed playwright Nick Payne.

A new exclusive poster also appears below.

The film is based on Julian Barnes’ book of the same name, which was a big success when released in 2011.

It won the Man Booker Prize, and nominated for Best Novel at the 2011 Costa Book Awards.

The movie version has already amassed positive reviews, with Broadbent in particular being singled out for high praise.

Billy Howle, who plays the younger version of the veteran actor’s character, has recently also been full of praise for him.

“I’d watched and admired Jim as an actor from afar for a long time,” he told Evening Standard.

“When we did cross paths it was just a really lovely atmosphere and he was incredibly supportive and helpful because I was still very new and I could have been a real rabbit in headlights with this.

“There was no conscious emulation or mimicry on my part, certainly. I know that we were watching each other’s performances from the rushes so we got an idea where we were heading and didn’t do anything wildly different.”

The Sense of an Ending is out tomorrow, April 14.
