Enter a mansion filled with voxel horrors and devious puzzles in The Padre, an unsettling adventure game where you can use your wits or your gun to help a priest overcome what evils he can before he meets his death. There’s no avoiding it, either, as this gruff priest will be dead in twelve hours, so it will be up to you to do what good you can until then.

Benedictus, your old mentor, has gone missing, and you, even in your old age, are stuck heading out into some haunted environs to find him. The halls of this mansion are a bit hostile to a man of the cloth, so players will need to be on the lookout for unsettling voxel beasts and other strange, shifting creatures that lurk the halls. As a demon hunter, you’re equipped with weapons to deal with these creatures, but sometimes fleeing isn’t a bad idea.

As you explore, you’ll come across less dangerous hauntings that showcase a bit of a sense of humor, as well as other hidden apparitions and nods to other games. There’s also plenty of exploration and puzzle solving to be done as the game chugs towards its grim conclusion, offering a chilling atmosphere and some devious mental challenges.

The Padre is available for $ 14.99 on Steam. For more information on the game and developer Shotgun With Glitters, you can head to the game’s site or follow them on Facebook, YouTube, and Tumblr.
