The Grand Tour season 2: Fans left ‘shaken’ as Richard Hammond’s 'brutal' car crash airs

At the end of the premiere, the full extent of the 47-year-old’s terrifying accident was shown as he crashed a £2million supercar at 120mph in Switzerland.

Before driving the vehicle, Richard said to the camera: “Oh, I’m quite nervous. I’m suddenly nervous.”

Footage captured the heart-stopping sound of the vehicle ploughing into a barrier and showed the car engulfed in flames.

Miraculously, the petrolhead cheated death and only fractured his knee in the horror crash but was left wheelchair bound following an operation.

After watching the chilling scene, viewers flocked to Twitter with many left completely stunned that Richard somehow survived the crash.

One fan wrote: “Ahh it’s good to see the lads back!…Hammond’s nine lives must be out now #TheGrandTour.”

While another fan struggled to watch as they commented: “Bro why was I shaking at Hammonds crash even tho I knew he was alright #TheGrandTour.”

A third viewer said: “Quite pleased with the first episode of S2 of @thegrandtour. Although the closer it got to the accident I could feel my anxiety building. #TheGrandTour #Premiere.”

One shocked fan added: “F**k me Hammond’s crash was brutal. #TheGrandTour.”

The Grand Tour drops on Amazon Prime at midnight on Fridays.
