Laughing at the pair’s efforts, the quiz show’s presenter Bradley Walsh said carefully: “We’ll need some pushbacks.”
The 57-year-old then recalled an earlier question that Shaun had gotten wrong, reminding him: “I’ve got one thing to say: Kippers.”
But while the team had a lucky break with one question about online retailer Amazon, answering correctly and pushing the chaser back one space, it wasn’t anywhere near enough to beat the master of trivia.
Fans reacted angrily on Twitter to the poor achievement, as one person posted: “Never seen such a low score in the final round on #TheChase. This pair make #LoveIsland look like Mastermind.”
“That’s the worst ever score I’ve seen on The Chase,” another viewer noted, while a third raged: “Five in the final chase! F***ing five! Goes to show celebrities are thick as sh** #TheChase.”
While one fan of the show claimed Jade was the worst player they’d ever seen on the show, saying: “Jade Jones has got to be the stupidest contestant I’ve ever seen on Celeb Chase,” another was more forgiving when they mentioned the positive outcome.
“Is that the lowest ever score in a final chase? #recordbreakers!”
