The Apprentice 2017: Official start date confirmed – you won't believe when

The BBC series is due to premiere on Wednesday, October 4 at 9pm, only two weeks away after suddenly sneaking up on fans.

The show’s official Twitter account revealed the news today with a caption that teased: “Patience is a virtue. Profits are a necessity. #TheApprentice returns to @BBCOne. 04.10.17.”

The menacing statement was accompanied by an image of Lord Alan Sugar’s ever-present firing finger, seemingly ready for action.

The news comes following the release of the first teaser for the business-focused reality show’s 13th series this autumn, which saw the 70-year-old billionaire unashamedly playing his part with a comic touch.

During what was supposed to be a trailer for the new instalment of the gripping show, Lord Sugar couldn’t hide his displeasure at a group of suited men and women dancing to a remix of his “you’re fired” phrase.

“I asked you to make a trailer, not bleedin’ La La Land! You’re fired,” he barked, his trusted team Karen Brady and Claude Littner steadfastly by his side.

The trailer then read: “No time for nonsense,” ramping up the anticipation for the new series.

Last year’s series saw bakery business owner Alana Spencer sweep the floor with her fellow finalist Courtney Wood, and she walked away with the coveted £250,000 investment.

While the 24-year-old wasn’t a shoe in to win the series throughout the series of gruelling tasks, her success was praised by her soon-to-be partner following an enticing range of Ridiculously Rich cakes for Lord Sugar’s new business venture.

“It’s a tough one, but I’ve got to make a decision, and go with my gut feeling,” Lord Sugar admitted at the end of the last episode. “So, Alana, you’re going to be my business partner.”

The Apprentice season 13 premieres October 4 at 9pm on BBC One.
