Sup-Standard Concept: Chevrolet Traverse SUP Is a Traverse with a Paddle Board on Top

Chevrolet Traverse SUP concept

Stretching the definition of the term “concept,” Chevrolet has combined its three-row Traverse, a Thule roof rack, and a stand-up paddle board to create the Traverse SUP concept for this year’s SEMA aftermarket show in Las Vegas.

SUP, by the way, is the acronym for “stand-up paddle board.” For those who haven’t caught on to the apparently popular water sports activity, it is where you stand atop a board with a paddle and navigate calm waterways while mildly challenging your core. The Traverse SUP concept, then, is pretty much a Traverse with an SUP on top of it.

Chevrolet also slapped some decals on the three-row crossover, either before or after the rig fell out of the brand’s accessory tree and hit every branch on its way down. The 20-inch wheels, black-painted exterior trim, trailer hitch, floor mats, doorsill plates, cargo liner, and embroidered headrests are all available to 2018 Traverse buyers—whether they stand-up paddle board or not. Is it cool? Hardly, but unlike the wilder creations on display at SEMA, this is a concept regular Janes and Joes can mostly replicate at home.
