Sunday Brunch viewers BLAST Tim Lovejoy's 'terrible' interview skills: 'Painful to watch'

The 49-year-old Channel 4 presenter and his co-host Simon Rimmer, 54, were joined in the studio by criminal psychologist and memory expert Doctor Julia Shaw to discuss her work studying false memories.

Although fans found the discussion fascinating, many were put off by Tim’s questioning, taking to Twitter to air their opinions.

“Tim clearly can’t remember why he has a TV career,” one blasted, while another said that Tim appeared “broken”, adding: “His interview skills are even worse today.”

“Swear Tim Lovejoy has absolutely no idea what or why is on TV,” said a third, as a fourth fumed: “Terrible interviewing skills by #TimLovejoy closed question after closed question. Painful to watch.”

“Tim’s most frightening and baffling type of guest: a woman who is simultaneously attractive and intelligent,” said another viewer.

Doctor Julia explained to Tim and Simon how false memories can be developed and how interesting it can be to explore what a memory actually is and how people can know if it really happened or not.

“Part of what’s so interesting about [memories] is that actually lived experiences and things that didn’t actually happen can feel the same,” she said. “And so, they’re complex and they’re emotional.”

She revealed that people can even believe that they have committed a crime that they didn’t, or have memories before the age of three which are impossible.

Several viewers shared their response to her revelations on Twitter, with one saying: “Now THIS is interesting.”

“I can remember nearly everything about the day my sister was born when I was three,” another insisted.

Sunday Brunch continues next Sunday at 9.30am on Channel 4.
