Strong, stable and BLUE! Theresa May ditches red power suit for meeting with the Queen

The fashion-conscious Prime Minister has undergone a quick outfit change today, while she attempts to restore stability in the chaos caused by a hung parliament result.

Theresa May wore the look to meet the Queen to request to form a minority government – where she was granted her request by Queen Elizabeth II.

She was seen in the bright blue number outside Number 10 Downing Street, London after her gamble in calling an early election had spectacularly backfired, with her husband by her side.

The 60-year-old, who has had a tough morning, paired the bright blue double breasted jacket with a pearl necklace and matching earrings.

She added a heavy dose of black eyeliner and a swipe of red lipstick.

She wore a matching pencil skirt with the jacket, and a silver watch.

Earlier the Prime Minister, stepped out of Conservative HQ wearing her favourite Amanda Wakeley red suit and red kitten heels by L.K Bennett.

Her husband Philip struck a similar pose as the world’s media snapped photographs of the couple after a tense night.

But Twitter users were quick to jump on the PM for her choice of outfit. At 3.30am Angy Castle tweeted: “Is Theresa May already admitting a Labour win by wearing a red suit?”

Serge Reuter added: “All for wearing clothes more than once, but does Theresa May really need to keep on wearing that horrible, red, Trump-stained suit?”

The Prime Minister needs to form a minority Conservative government with the backing of the DUP. But how will the coalition work?

Sources have said that the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) will prop up Mrs May’s administration.

An insider told The Guardian: “We want there to be a government. We have worked well with May. The alternative is intolerable.

“For as long as Corbyn leads Labour, we will ensure there’s a Tory PM.”

The DUP won 10 seats in Northern Ireland, enough to create a majority when combined with the Conservatives.
