A massive 7.6-magnitude earthquake has occurred in the Caribbean Sea, north of Honduras.
The earthquake, which was initially reported as having a 7.8 magnitude, occurred at a depth of 33km (20 miles) on Tuesday night.
A Tsunami warning has been issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC).
Hazardous waves, between 0.3 to 1 meters, above tide level could hit the coasts of Belize, Cuba, Honduras, Mexico, Cayman Islands, and Jamaica.
The PTWC has advised coastal residents of these countries to stay alert and follow local instructions.
The first tsunami waves are expected to have already arrived at Puerto Cortes in Honduras, Cozumel in Mexico and Santiago de Cuba in Cuba.
PWTC estimates Montego Bay in Jamaica could receive waves at 11.04pm (local time). Waves are then expected to reach Trujillo in Honduras at 10.28pm (local time), Belize City in Belize at 10.52pm (local time), and Cuba’s Santa Cruz del Sur at 1.36am (local time).
Tsunamis are a series of waves, and the break between each wave can vary from five minutes to an hour.
