Strictly Come Dancing 2018: Charles Venn and Karen DODGE Seann and Katya kiss question

Seann and Katya issued an apology after pictures of the pair kissing were published several weeks ago.

The Strictly Come Dancing pair were both in relationships at the time and so the incident attracted considerable attention.

Today saw their fellow competitors on the BBC contest Charles Venn and Karen Clifton interviewed on Lorraine by Carol Vorderman.

However, the two of them remained pretty tight-lipped on the issue.

Carol said: “I have to ask you about kissgate.”

The pair looked notably coy as they averted their eyes and shared an awkward chuckle.

But Karen quickly took the chance to say they’d been too busy to pay attention to any backstage drama.

“The fact that we’ve been in the bottom two, that’s all we’ve been focusing on.”

She added: “Sometimes it’s really hard to focus on something else thats going on.”

Charles and Karen managed to avoid being in the bottom two last week for the third time in a row on the programme.

The Casualty actor explained how he was left with a feeling of “elation” after hearing he would be making it through to the next round.

He added that in the competition his biggest competition was only himself.

Charles declared: “This is a hackneyed saying but my biggest competition is myself, that’s not brag.

“If you put the kind of pressure on yourself to say ‘I have to measure up to that contestant’ that will affect how I perform. It’s counter productive.

“I will do the best I can.”

While Karen chimed in to say: “If our best gets us through to the next round, amazing.”

Karen also said that Charles was “emotional” as he jokingly pretended to dab at his tears.

“He is very emotional and that’s a side that people don’t see,” she explained.

“Especially Mondays and Tuesdays, they are the hardest days of the week.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One.
