Strictly Come Dancing 2017: Susan Calman breaks down on It Takes Two ‘It’s very difficult’

The 43-year-old was sent home from the BBC competition along with her dance partner Kevin Clifton last night after facing show favourite Alexandra Burke in the dance-off.

Zoe praised Susan for her commitment to the routines and for putting on a show each week, before broadcasting her video highlights.

As the cameras cut back to Susan after the VT, she wiped her eyes and sighed: “I’m hanging in there, I’m hanging in there! I’m alright, I’m alright!”

Speaking about her highlights, Susan said: “Definitely Wonder Woman and the Quickstep, I think they were incredible dances.”

Becoming emotional once more, the comedian shed a tear and cried: “But genuinely every day… and this is why Monday’s quite difficult… because we would have been starting another dance today! Oh, I’m so sorry. I’m sorry.

“It’s just been incredible, and this is genuine. I’m so happy for 10 weeks with this idiot here.”

Supportive dance partner Kevin gushed about Susan, noting how the pair turned it around from being the favourite to go first, to lasting in the competition until now.

Kevin said: “I think we were odds-on the first ones to be eliminated at the beginning of the competition. That’s what people were saying.

“We just immediately hit it off as friends. We had a great time and Susan really applied herself and she didn’t just want to be a comedy act – because she’s a comedian.

“She really wanted to work hard and she has done every single day. She’s a joy to work with and I saw her just improve and improve and improve every week.”

He added: “I’ve always said that dancing is about making people feel something and if you can do that when you dance, you’re a great dancer. I just think Susan did that every week of Strictly.”

continues this Saturday on at 7.05pm.
