Strictly Come Dancing 2017: Shirley Ballas gives verdict on if Debbie McGee can still win

The panelist has admitted it is an “unpredictable” year on the BBC series just days after Paul Daniels’ widow found herself in the dance-off.

During an appearance on this week’s The Graham Norton Show, the 57-year-old opened up about the talented contestant as well as her own experiences on the programme.

When asked if she thinks the 59-year-old is going to life the Glitterball, Shirley commented: “It’s an unpredictable year.”

The dancer, who replaced Len Goodman, continued carefully: “Let’s wait and see – the audience is unpredictable. I love them all.”

Meanwhile, Shirley said she still gets nervous prior to the live shows every Saturday, after having little experience of the small screen before.

“I get butterflies because I have never done TV before,” she said. “Going from being a dance teacher to suddenly being the head judge was a little overwhelming, but it’s amazing and thrilling.”

Talking about her new-found fame, Shirley went on to admit: “No one sees me because everyone is glued to their cellphones.

“I think three, maybe four people have recognised me and I’m okay with that,” while sitting alongside Will Farrell, Mark Wahlberg, John Lithgow and Mel Gibson.

Shirley and Hollywood star Will even took to the dance floor together to demonstrate a Rumba as she wowed in a plunging black gown.

The Graham Norton Show continues tomorrow at 10.35pm on BBC One, while Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday at 6.50pm on BBC One.
