Strictly Come Dancing 2017: Piers Morgan takes aim at Debbie McGee – 'Take her OUT'

The 52-year-old was discussing his colleague’s debut on the BBC dancing show, when he announced who he sees as her main competition.

“You’ve got to take Debbie out, because she’s beginning to cement herself in public opinion,” the presenter said.

He added: “If you want to win, you’ve got to be brutal.”

Piers also paid Charlotte, 42, a great deal of respect, saying she had “promise” in the competition.

However, the newsreader suggested that her cool and calm exterior on the night did not reflect how nervous she actually was.

“Without a doubt – apologies to my husband – [my wedding day] was a big day, but that was the scariest thing I have ever done,” she joked.

Piers was gobsmacked, laughing: “So you were more fluttery to see Brendan Cole on the dance floor than seeing your husband?”

Charlotte speedily denied what her colleague was asking, adding: “It’s a terrifying prospect stepping out in front of everyone!”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6am.
