The former magician’s assistant has topped the leaderboard week-on-week and been widely tipped to lift tonight’s Glitterball trophy.
However, just as Debbie McGee races into the final hurdle, her partner Giovanni Pernice has admitted the 59-year-d “feels like a zombie”.
It’s now been revealed Debbie has been battling a cold all week, leaving her exhausted.
“Debbie has a really bad cold, she’s had it all week,” a source told The Sun.
Earlier this week, Debbie explained to Daily Star: “I am now more tired than I have been in any other week. The pressure is much heavier. On Tuesday I was like a zombie.
“I was brain dead and physically washed out.”
Thankfully, during last night’s instalment of Strictly Come Dancing sister show It Takes Two, Debbie was in high spirits and hit back at claims she could miss the final.
Teasing their routines, Giovanni spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk and other media, promising and “elegant and classic” display.
“[It starts] with a story, and just because we haven’t done enough on the show, some more lifts and splits. Why not?”
“It’s basically going to be more elegant and lots of storytelling,” he added.
Debbie was less certain though, confessing: “Every week when he’s showed me lifts and things I’m going to do, I’ve thought he was joking and then I realise he’s not.
“I haven’t been very well either so the lifts we’ve only done a couple of times.”
Strictly Come Dancing concludes tonight at 6.30pm on BBC One.
