Stranger Things season 2: David Harbour makes 'dark' confession about Netflix series

The actor, who plays Chief Jim Hopper in the Netflix series, spoke about the upcoming run during a Q&A on Mogul.

The 42-year-old warned viewers to expect a “dark and complex” show when it returns, while admitting his Hawkins alter ego is in a totally different place this time around.

David commented: “I’ve seen a lot of episode one and have seen a lot of the shooting at the monitor, and I can honestly say that I am so excited for you all to see this season.”

The Equalizer star continued: “It’s so fun and dark and complex. The characters all get to deepen and develop and we get to take on even greater demons (inner and outer).”

David admitted that episodes four and five are “pretty epic”, especially compared to their earlier counterparts.

“I felt they [the episodes] were the slowest of the season and this season [they] are incredible.

“The story moves so fast in the middle and the tension is so high. They’re killer, but I haven’t even seen eight and nine yet, and they’ll likely be even better.”

Those at home last saw Hopper leaving a box of Eggo’s in the woods for Eleven (played by Millie Bobby Brown), which led to a whole host of theories as to her whereabouts.

David added: “Hop starts season two in a completely different place than season one. He saved Will (Noah Schnapp) and has found a renewed interest in life.

“His arc for season two, in my mind, becomes more about butting up against the places where his hero fantasy can’t take him.”

Stranger Things is expected to return to Netflix later this year.
