Star Wars 9: Mark Hamill makes THIS declaration after wading in on Last Jedi Luke backlash

The most recent Star Wars movie did divisive things with Luke; and Mark has been quite forward in saying how he himself initially struggled to get his head around it.

But now? He’s made it known that he will no longer be offering up his opinions via Twitter.

One fan asked him if he thought Luke was on the verge of leaving Ahch-To to join the fight – but just couldn’t lift his old X-wing out of the water.

“The more important thing is: What do YOU think?” Hamill responded.

“I should probably keep my opinions on the #StarWars films to myself and let the audience make up their own mind. The movies speak for themselves.”

The following day, he posted: “I mention keeping my #StarWars opinions to myself & what happens? It triggers an avalanche of questions about the next one!

“All [I] can [say] is yes, I’m in it.

“Other than that, just consider it: EPISODE NEIN COMMENT.”

In a documentary released earlier this year, Hamill said: “You have your own interpretation of how the character should be utilised.

“My character represented hope… now, he’s sort of demoralised.”

However, he said that he later told director Rian Johnson: “‘I hate what you’ve done with my character.’

“After I got that off my chest, it was like, ‘Lead me, o guru.’”

Indeed, despite appearing to be killed off at the end of The Last Jedi, Hamill does appear in Episode 9 – which is as-yet-untitled.

The movie will round out the Skywalker saga for good, before focus turns to stories set elsewhere in the galaxy far, far away.

Also back are the likes of Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian, and – thanks to unused footage from the last two films – the late Carrie Fisher as Leia.

Star Wars 9 is out in late 2019.
