Star Wars 8 news: A Finn and Poe romance? 'We're talking about it' says Kathleen Kennedy

Star Wars fans and sites are generating hundreds of rumours, leaks and theories every week, but a few of them actually run deeper than that.

A powerful movemnet has been lobying for a romance between two favourite – and male –  characters, Finn and Poe. The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson has laso retweted fan art of the pairing.

At Star Wars Celebration and again in a recent interview, Lucafilm head, Kathleen Kennedy, acknowledged the growing power of fans to influence the storylines.

Kenendy said: “We are clear that the fans are as much masters of this franchise as we are.”

She told Spanish site E-Cartelera: “After 40 years of adventures, people have a lot of information and a lot of theories about the road these stories can take.

“Sometimes those theories that come up are new ideas for us to listen to, read and pay attention to.”

And yes, she admitted that one of those possibilities was a relationship between Finn and Poe.

Actors Oscar Isaacs and John Boyega have already spoken about their reactions to the bromance turning into a gay romance.

Now Kennedy, herself, has revealed: “We have talked about it (the gay romance).”

Fans have published enormous amounts of literature and images about the potential love affair between the Rebel pilot and formeer First Order stormtrooper and will be thrilled to know that their cherished hope for Star Wars first gay romance was actually being discussed by the filmmakers themselves.

Unfortunately, Kenendy also warned that it is unlikely to make an appearance in Episode VIII, which has already completely principal filming.

Kennedy added: “I believe you are not go to see it (a gay romance between Finn and Poe) in The Last Jedi.”

The Star Wars boss also revealed that decisions about a spin-off Obi-Wan Kenobi film were about to be discussed “right now”.

She said: “We have been immersed in the Han Solo film for four or five weeks and are about to read the screenplay for Episode IX, so we have a lot of work on at the moment.”
