Springwatch in Japan: Chris Packham sends Twitter into meltdown with cheeky confession

The presenter was tracking racoon dogs and, in attempt to spot them later in the evening, he laid out a selection of snacks to lure them to the place where he would be sitting.

He was given a handful of cocktail sausages to place amongst the leaves on the ground to tempt the racoon dogs out of hiding.

As Chris scattered the food on the ground, he joked: “I do like a strategically placed sausage.”

His cheeky confession left those watching the BBC wildlife series at home in fits of laughter as they took to Twitter to comment on his X-rated remark.

One fan joked: “#Springwatch ‘love a strategically placed sausage myself’ – has someone else been on the sake?! #tanuki #Japan.”

While another added: “‘I like a strategically placed sausage myself.’. Oh, @ChrisGPackham! #springwatch.”

“‘I like a strategically placed sausage myself’ is the best thing Chris Packham has ever said #springwatch,” a third wrote.

Another shocked viewer tweeted: “Strategically placed sausage?! #springwatch #InnuendoBingo.”

It comes after the to see the emergence of cherry blossom.

The programme traditionally focusses on British wildlife so the announcement didn’t go down too well with fans.

While many were quick to complain about the move away, the broadcaster assured fans that there would also be a series in the UK.

Responding to one complaint on their Facebook, they said it was simply “a special” and they would be “back on home soil for Springwatch”.
