The world of tech accessories is seemingly endless, but if there’s one “must own,” it’s a good pair of headphones, and I’m not talking about the practically disposable earbuds that came with your phone.
Since the original release of the Sennheiser HD 580 Precision headphones in 1991, the company has been known for its meticulous approach to audio.
With decades of experience, fundamental features, including great sound quality and comfort have made their way into every pair of headphones in the Sennheiser HD lineage, which is why it’s so popular.
Now, the company is teaming up with the innovative group-buying startup Massdrop for the latest installment to the series: the Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee headphones. By selling products through group buys, Massdrop brings in-demand items to consumers at lower prices.
Much like its predecessors, the HD 58X Jubilee headphones are rooted in practicality and performance. There’s no need to charge them, no app to pair it with, and they aren’t wireless. They feature new 150-ohm drivers that produce clear sound with emphasis on clean, extended bass and a smooth upper midrange.
Massdrop sent over a pair of their Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee headphones and they’re amazing.
My first impression of the Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee was how comfortable they were to wear. They have an over-ear design, plush velour ear cups, foam padding for your head, and a lot of maneuverability when adjusting for size.
I’ve paid twice as much for headphones from other companies that aren’t nearly as comfortable.
In an homage to the HD 580 Precision, the HD 58X Jubilee feature a glossy black headband and gray metal grilles. The design is sleek and stylish, but doesn’t include noise cancelling. While some people might look down at that, I found them to have excellent audio quality while letting me feel connected to the outside world.
This makes them ideal for wear in the office and while commuting in a busy city, since you can stay aware of your surroundings while listening to music. I’ve worn these for hours at my desk without the usual discomfort of on-ear or over-ear headphones.
Instead of shelling out big bucks for headphones from bigger companies, this Sennheiser and Massdrop collaboration offers great audio quality at an excellent price. The Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee is limited to just 5,000 pairs, so you’ll want to get in on this deal now.
