As information on the 2018 Ford Mustang rolled in, our Detroit-based editorial team elected to “build” their own Mustangs, using Ford’s online configurator. Given my apathy toward today’s bigger-isn’t-necessarily-better Mustang, I took another route, researching ‘Stangs for sale within Autoblog’s classified listings. And I’ve come up with a gem.

The 2006 Mustang was the second model year of this all-new and significantly updated generation. While still “sporting” (if that’s the word) a live rear axle, in most other respects the ’05 was fully of this century. The sheetmetal, however, gave a respectful nod to the past. And with a 4.6-liter V8, its performance was visceral, especially for the mid-’00s.

This for-sale example, located in Kernersville, N.C., has a leather interior and appears to be in spotless condition, and – with but 30,000 miles – has just been broken in. As you’d guess in this condition and with so few miles, the asking price is on the high side, but you can do what we do: Bid low and buy high. And ask about free shipping!
