Saturday Kitchen: Matt Tebbutt left MORTIFIED after epic blunder 'That's another woman!'

The 44-year-old chef felt the need to apologise after he made a strangely shocking gesture in the middle of a link during the live BBC broadcast.

When wine expert Olly Smith, 43, explained his choice of accompaniment for the dish of duck liver on crumpets, Matt seemed to get overexcited, gulping down the remains in his glass before exclaiming: “Very clever, very delicious. Well done you.”

He then clapped loudly twice, continuing: “Right, now let’s catch up with Si and Dave, The Hairy Bikers.

“Sorry about that!” he added, gesturing to clap again, causing the guests to fall about laughing.

Matt giggled in embarrassment, hiding his face in his hands as Saturday Kitchen cut to the next segment.

Later in the show, he encountered some more difficulty when he mistook guest chef Anna Haugh for somebody else.

After the guests completed the infamous omelette challenge, Matt went to move the sticker of Anna’s face on the scoreboard, which was shaped like a frying pan.

However, Anna was quick to notice that he had actually selected a different chef’s face, interjecting: “That’s not me.

“Do you think that’s me?” she asked. “That’s another woman.”

Looking stunned, Matt said: “That’s Rosie! That’s not you!”

“No, that’s not me,” she repeated, laughing.

“It’s very complicated this,” he replied apologetically, attempting to move swiftly on to link to the next feature.

After introducing the following segment, he went to fix his blunder, assuring viewers: “I’ll sort this out now.”

Saturday Kitchen continues next Saturday at 10am on BBC One.
