REVEALED: How flight attendants get to avoid THIS part of the flight process

Flight attendants can be seen as having the most glamorous of career, due to its ability to travel the world in between shifts.

However, it has recently been revealed that one thing they can’t avoid is the security line when boarding a plane.

Seen as the longest and most tedious part of a flight, the queues can sometimes be hours long as people try and get through.

One flight attendant has revealed how they actually get special treatment for this.

Sjaak Schulteis, who was a flight attendant for 30 years, wrote on forum Quora; “Unfortunately yes, the whole crew has to go through the same procedures.

“There is a difference though: in the majority of the airports there are special lanes for aircrew.

“The reason is simple: we need to be in our plane before the passengers.

“And sometimes if not, passengers have to wait and let the crew go first.

Whilst “only 90 per cent of the airports” have this line, it certainly makes sense for getting cabin crew members on the plane safely.

However, some may question why they need to go through this procedure at all if they are part of the staff.

Schulteis goes on to explain that it due to how easily they can smuggle items on the plane, compared to normal passengers.

Many can sneak through items such as drugs, electronic or food from the country they were in, therefore the checks still need to happen, even if they get through quicker.

It’s not the only shocking fact to emerge from flight attendants recently.

Having heavy hand-luggage on board is something that cabin crew members are beginning to fear due to the weight it creates.

In the event of severe turbulence, the heavy bags that fall from the overhead lockers could so serious damage.

With more travellers choosing to travel with just hand-luggage, it creates a worrying threat.
