Cruise ships harbour many secrets that passengers may not be aware of.
Crew members have previously revealed some scandalous secrets regarding the goings on between workers and passengers on the ship.
It has recently been revealed that they are also able to travel using a secret method.
The creepy reveal is sure to surprise frequent cruise travellers.
According to James Abbgy on Quora, who has worked on Royal Caribbean since 2016, there are secret passageways for crew members to use unnoticed.
He explained: “There’s a network of corridors, elevators, stairs, etc. that are off limits to guests, that let us get pretty much anywhere unseen.”
Whilst this may not be too creepy, his next point makes it a lot more nerve-wracking when it comes to being watched.
Abbgy wrote: “We keep records on our guests. Nothing stalker-ish, but we keep track of who complains a lot, or big spenders in the casinos.”
It isn’t the only bizarre secret about cruise liners to have been revealed.
Many may not realise that there is no deck 13 onboard most ships.
Whilst some ships don’t go as high as 13, those that do go from deck 12 to deck 14.
It has led to some baffling conspiracy theories online.
The number 13 has been unlucky for many over the years, but the origin of why is often confused.
Some believe it is due to 13 witches in a coven, or the 13th tarot card representing death, or even Judas who was meant to be the 13th guest.
Andy Harmer, SVP Membership & Director, CLIA (Cruise Lines International Association) UK & Ireland, revealed all: “As superstition goes, in some cultures the number 13 is considered ‘unlucky for some’.
“Like hotels around the world that don’t have a floor 13 or room 13, the cruise sector is very much the same with many of the cruise lines skipping out deck 13.”
