Queen Letizia of Spain style in pictures: The Spanish royal's top fashion moments of 2017

The Spanish Queen will get the chance to show off her royal elegance at a glittering state banquet at Buckingham Palace tomorrow night.

Queen Letizia is often compared to the Duchess of Cambridge and the royals are expected to meet during the banquet hosted by Elizabeth II.

The wife of King Felipe VI is known for her impeccable fashion sense and is guaranteed to bring a touch of elegance to the three-day state visit.

Spain’s Queen tends to be a bit more daring than the Duchess of Cambridge, often opting for bright shades and even leather skirts and jumpsuits.

As the King and Queen of Spain arrive in Britain today, here is a look back at Queen Letizia’s most fashionable moments from 2017.

Queen Letizia turned heads when she wore a scarlet, floor-length gown to celebrate the 50th birthday of King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands.

She looked stunning in the red dress from British designer Stella McCartney as she arrived for the birthday party in the Hague in April.

Spain’s Queen also wore a red dress, this time from Carolina Herrera, for the 40th anniversary of Spain’s first democratic elections in four decades in June.

Letizia wore an elegant white jumpsuit to the Princesa de Girona Awards at the Palacio de Congressos de Girona, Spain in late June.

Earlier this month, she stepped out wearing red lipstick and a tight striped pencil skirt at Madrid’s Zarzuela Palace.

It came after she wore a black leather pencil skirt during the opening of exhibition at Madrid’s National Library in May.

The Spanish royal chose a tailored nautical-themed outfit for the Discapnet awards ceremony in Madrid earlier this month.

She looked formal yet elegant in a white and black patterned dress at the Armed Forces Day in Guadalajara, Spain in May.
