Queen Elizabeth II in pictures: HRH decommissions UK’s largest warship

The Queen arrived in Plymouth on the south coast of Devon this morning looking pretty in pink for HMS Ocean’s decommissioning ceremony.

Queen Elizabeth II, 91, wore a pastel pink coat over a floral dress and matching hat with flower detailing for the event. The royal teamed her her outfit with a classic string of pearls and diamond brooch.

Hundreds of people attended the ceremony to mark the end of service for the Royal Navy ship which has been sold to the Brazilian Navy for £84m.

HMS Ocean, also known as the Might O throughout the fleet, was one of Britain’s biggest warships but was deemed redundant following the purchase of HMS Queen Elizabeth by the Ministry of Defence.

Her Royal Majesty was guest of honour for the ceremony at the Devonport Navy Base and met the crew who have served on board the ship.

The Queen was introduced to Captain Robert Pedre, Admiral Sir Philip Jones, First Sea Lord and Commodore Ian Shippery.
