A property for sale boasts a surprising feature – it is one of the most haunted homes in the UK.
Listed on Sarah Beeny’s Tepilo online estate agent, the two bedroom cottage is named “The Cage”, an eerie hint as to its past.
Constructed in the 1800’s this property is known for being a former medieval witches prison, and has been featured on TV many times.
The seller revealed the history of the home, and said: “The Cage was the local holding cell whose prisoners included the ‘Witch’ Ursula Kemp who was held captive there prior to her trial and hanging in Chelmsford.
“But Ursula may haunt the cage still … this property can be set up to be a paranormal business if the new owner desires.”
A metal sign shares the ghostly past of the cottage, which is painted in vibrant yellow, with passers-by.
Inside, many of the original features have been kept. The large family living area enjoys a featured mantle and raised hearth.
Wooden beams adorn the walls, and sash windows add a classic look to the house.
The cottage does have outside space, and there is a small courtyard to relax in.
The kitchen has open shelving and wooden finishes throughout.
Unusual properties don’t come up for sale very often – but this week another home hiding a surprise was listed online.
A property developer has spent the past 30 years transforming a home into a Venetian palace.
The once-featureless bungalow is now an incredible palace, with seven bedrooms and six bathrooms.
The property expert Trevor Wynne-Jones bought the original property 1966 for £13,500 and demolished it, building a new home in its place.
The project in Wraysbury, Staines, was inspired by Venetian art and architecture and boasts a catacombs-themed reception room.
Walls around the home, which has seven bedrooms, six bathrooms and four reception rooms, are covered in Renaissance-style frescoes.
