Anna worked with the Princess of Wales for 16 years and became a close friend before Diana’s passing.
Following Diana’s sudden death in August 1997, her stylist admitted that nobody saw the danger of propelling her to fame.
Speaking on the BBC’s Diana, 7 Days documentary, Anna said: “When I heard she had died, I was asked by a newspaper to write a piece and it actually never saw the light of day, but I’ve got it somewhere.
“I know that my knee-jerk reaction to her death was a sense of feeling of responsibility for having helped to turn her into an international icon, because it got out of control, I think, and none of us saw the danger.”
It comes as Prince William also revealed how his mother’s funeral was a tough duty that he felt he had to complete.
He said: “Both our parents had brought us up to understand that as best we can that there is this element of duty and the responsibility that you have to do things that you don’t want to do.
“But I have to say, when it becomes that personal as walking behind your mother’s funeral cortège, it goes to another level of duty.”
