Prince Harry and Meghan Markle: Suits star asks THIS person 'to be her maid of honour'

Prince Harry, 33, and Meghan Markle, 36, are expected to attend their first public engagement together later this month at the Invictus Games in Toronto, and after their recent trip to Africa together many have speculated whether the couple are engaged.

Rumours of an engagement announcement happening any minute now are rife, with a wedding to follow.

Express.co.uk looked at who Meghan could choose to be her bridesmaids if the pair get married.

Princess Charlotte, Serena Williams and Priyanka Chopra are obvious choices.

But a new report reveals Meghan has asked Harry’s sister-in-law, Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton to be her maid of honour.

Meghan is said to have sent a gift to Kate, according to Woman’s Day, in the form of a rose gold diamond bracelet worth more than £1,000.

The present is reported to have come with a note asking the Duchess to be her maid of honour.

Other sources have also claimed Meghan was introduced to the Queen on September 3.

There was no immediate confirmation from Kensington Palace, which refused to comment, but royal biographer Ingrid Seward, the editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, appeared to provide some corroboration.

Ms Seward, who knew Harry’s mother Princess Diana well, said she understood that the fifth in line to the throne and Ms Markle, who have been dating for 13 months, went to Balmoral together shortly after returning from a safari holiday in Botswana and Zambia.

“I’m 98 per cent sure,” she said. “I can’t be 100 per cent because I didn’t actually see them.”

She had no knowledge of whether they met the Queen while they were on the 50,000-acre estate on Royal Deeside in Aberdeenshire, but US Weekly claimed the actress was introduced while the couple were visiting Prince Charles at nearby Birtkhall over the weekend.

But a royal commentator reckons a proposal is yet to happen.

Richard Fitzwilliams said “all the signs” point to an upcoming engagement.

He told Express.co.uk Harry had found “happiness” just weeks after Meghan Markle revealed in her interview with Vanity Fair: “We’re a couple, we’re in love.”
