Prince Harry will attend the London Fire Bridgade Carol Service at Westminster Cathedral today – but will his fiancee Meghan be there?

Kensington Palace announced the public engagement on Twitter, but there was no mention Ms Markle would be attending too.

Prince Harry, 33, and Meghan Markle, 36, were dating 16 months when they announced they were engaged last Monday.

The couple are set to wed in May next year at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle – as revealed by Kensington Palace.

The American actress flaunted her ring at a photo call shortly after the engagement announcement, and details of what the pair’s big day will entail have slowly been spilling out.

In the latest reveal, Harry and Meghan will reportedly break with tradition and have a wedding cake made from bananas.

Early on in the couple’s relationship the Suits star posted a picture to her Instagram of two bananas with drawn on faces snuggled next to each other.

She caption the picture: “Sleep tight xx.”

Many of Meghan’s followers believed she was referring to Harry with the snap.

One wrote: “Is that message for your red hair prince?”

A source told The Telegraph the yellow fruit will feature in their wedding cake.

They said: “This will be the first royal wedding cake made from bananas.”

The top tier of a wedding cake is traditionally made of fruit cake and is severed at the christening of the couple’s first child.

When the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge married in April 2011 they had two cakes – a groom’s cake made choclate biscuits for their reception and then a traditional eight-tiered cake.
