Pokemon Go update: Niantic HYPES new event as players FINALLY receive promo codes

Pokemon Go developer Niantic is hyping the launch of a new event with brand new promotional material in London.

One fan uploaded an image to Reddit of a new promotional poster being used on the London Underground.

The poster tagline reads: “The streets aren’t paved with gold, but there are 114,342 Goldeen on the loose. Go London.”

It also features a Venusaur on top of a gym, which suggests that a gym revamp is on the cards.

It could also tie in to the rumoured raids system, which is expected to coincide with the release of Legendary Pokemon, as groups battle for control of gyms.

Niantic could reveal more at E3, while a release date is likely to fall in July to mark the one year anniversary of Pokemon Go.

In other Pokemon Go news, Sprint Mobile and Niantic have started sending out promo codes in the US.

Unfortunately, promo codes are only for Android customers in the US and can be used once before they expire.

According to Pokemon Go Hub, players can still register for the event by visiting Sprint Mobile stores. The only catch is that you have to be a member of the My Trainer Rewards scheme to get a code.

The rewards are as follows…

  • 200 MyTrainerReward points (Sprint reward program)
  • 2 Incense
  • 1 Lucky Egg
  • 15 PokéBalls
  • 5 Great Balls

The news comes just days after the Pokemon Company announced PokeLand for iOS and Android.

Sharing similarities with Pokemon Rumble on Nintendo Wii, players must traverse islands and collect toy Pokemon.

The release of PokeLand should provide an even bigger financial boost for the Pokemon Company, which has just posted record profits.

Thanks to the release of Pokemon Go and Pokemon Sun and Moon, company profits soared to $ 143 million for the last financial year.

That’s compared to $ 5.6 million for the previous year, $ 18.4 million for the year before that, and $ 10.6 million for the one before that.
