Pokemon Go developer Niantic has revealed an unbelievable new stat about the Easter event.

The short-lived Pokemon Go Easter event gave Pokemon Trainers the chance to hatch Pokemon not usually obtainable from 2km Eggs.

Players also received double the amount of XP for all actions taken, as well as additional Candy for every egg hatched.

Lucky eggs were available at a discounted price, selling at 50% off for the duration of the event.

And despite only lasting a week, Niantic has revealed that Trainers hatched a staggering 87 million eggs.

“Congratulations, Trainers. You collectively hatched 87 million Eggs during the #PokemonGO Eggstravaganza!” reads a Niantic Pokemon Go tweet.

It’s arguably even more impressive than the Water Festival stats, which saw Trainers catch 589 million Magikarp.

Pokemon Go fans have been tricked into .

The malware, which is dubbed FalseGuide, was hidden in more than 40 apps in the Google Play Store. These apps were disguised as guides for hugely-popular mobile games, including  and FIFA Mobile.

When smartphone players downloaded the fraudulent game guide to their Android phone – the app would install malware and create a “silent botnet” out of the infected devices.

This allowed hackers to harness the collective power of all the infected phones without ever alerting the device owners.

FalseGuide request admin permissions upon instalment, which prevents victims from deleting the fake game guide from their device.

According to researchers at CheckPoint, cybercriminals have been using this scam since November 2016.

Since then, FalseGuide apps have been downloaded more than 2 million times, the security researchers claim.

Fortunately, CheckPoint has now alerted Google to the malware – and the US search company swiftly ditched the fake game guides from the Play Store.
