Pixel 3 launch – Why Google may beat Apple with its latest release

Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are highly-anticipated and could be the most popular Android smartphones of the year.

That is because they are expected to introduce a host of new features in addition to improving on everything the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL did right when they released last year.

Pixel 3 has been predicted to come with a 5.5-inch display while the Pixel 3 XL is rumoured to arrive with a 6.2-inch panel.

Both pieces of hardware will surely be powered with the latest Snapdragon 845 chip from Qualcomm and receive a noticeable RAM upgrade.

One of the Pixel’s most popular features is its camera – the Pixel 3 is anticipated to retain a single shooter on its rear.

However, it is likely the lens will come with improved software functionality and a better quality sensor than was present on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.

Google has scheduled three hardware showcases that are taking place in London, Paris and New York City on October 9 that are presumed to detail its next-generation of smartphone.

But ahead of the grand unveiling, it appears a score of leaks have lifted the lid on a number of new features the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are set to bring to the table.

Pixel 3 XL has seemingly been hit by the most outings with alleged units being shown flaunting a new all-screen design with a notch.

Claimed Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL devices were also shown running Android 9 Pie, suggesting the new phones will come pre-installed with Google’s new operating system.

And now it appears the Silicon Valley titan has announced that both the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will be available for pre-order immediately after its October 9 exhibition has concluded.

In an email promotion for the forthcoming showcase, spotted by Droid Life, Google delivered the important news.

An extract from the document read: “We’ll have a lot more to talk about on October 9.

“To get the full scoop, catch the big reveal via livestream.

“Pre-orders start immediately after the event.”

Unfortunately, no more details were offered about the event taking place next week.

If Android fans are able to pre-order the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL on the same day as the phone’s announcement, that could suggest Google is planning to beat Apple’s forthcoming iPhone Xr to market.

iOS fans will be able to pre-order the iPhone Xr on October 19 before its release on October 26.

The budget device did not come to market alongside the iPhone Xs and Xs Max that launched last month.

iPhone Xr comes packing the same all-screen design as the iPhone X, iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max but does so with a more colourful body.

The more affordable hardware is available in white, blue, black, yellow, coral and red finishes.

Apple’s new A12 Bionic chip is also housed inside the device and should offer blisteringly quick performance across the American tech firm’s operating system.

iPhone Xr starts at £749 for the 64GB storage option but rises to £799 and £899 if customers want the 128GB and 256GB variants respectively.

But for those more excited for the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, all details about the new phones will be discussed on October 9.

Express.co.uk will be covering Google’s exhibition live.
