Piers Morgan CLASHES with MP Jess Phillips over Jeremy Corbyn: 'Give us a straight answer'

The MP was asked what she thought about leader Jeremy Corbyn but she tried to dodge the question and gave a neutral answer.

Speaking about members of the party who did not vote for Corbyn, she said: “We’ve just tried to get on with our jobs and not just continue to discuss the leader of the Labour Party.”

But, before she could continue, Susanna interrupted: “Sorry, you just said, ‘I’ve made my views very clear’. But I still don’t know what your views on Jeremy Corbyn are. You didn’t vote for him but do you want him to be the leader of your party?”

Jess tried to swerve past the question, commenting: “At the moment, I think that I don’t want to have another leadership election.”

Susanna still wasn’t happy, demanding: “So is that a yes?” with Jess reluctantly answering: “Yes.”

Annoyed that she would not answer Susanna’s question, Piers then interrupted: “That’s the least enthusiastic endorsement I have ever heard. Give us a straight answer! Yes or no?”

Jess eventually gave in and answered: “Well, no. It’s because I didn’t vote for him. I would never have picked Jeremy Corbyn.”

Despite clashing the pair later agreed on a story in today’s newspapers which discussed the RAF banning women from wearing skirts while on parade.

Piers remarked: “Those kinds of stories do not help anyone.” Jess then surprised him by responding: “I don’t actually disagree with you on this actually. Sometimes people try and do things that people aren’t screaming out for.”

It came after viewers threatened to switch over to BBC News as the hosts continued with their coverage of the Oscars mix-up, which saw La La Land named Best Picture instead of Moonlight on Sunday night.

Fans of the ITV morning show were far from impressed and took to social media to demand they focussed on “real news stories”.

One viewer remarked: “Gonna have to turn over to @BBCOne now #GMB is dragging this out. No one cared yesterday, never mind today.”

While another added: “@GMB ok that’s enough I’m switching over #Oscars #GMB #getoverit #wedontcare (sic).”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am.
