Today’s This Morning began with a heated discussion between Phillip Schofield, Holly Willoughby, Nick Ferrari and Michelle Gayle about Rashford’s call for the government to help provide free meals for children who need them over the coming summer holidays. The debate touched upon Ms Coffey’s response to Ashford’s latest tweets this morning in which he asked MPs to imagine what life is like for those children who wake up to empty shelves and no running water.
Following his open letter to MPs in Parliament about providing free school meals to children over the summer holidays which went viral on social media yesterday, Marcus continued with his campaign this morning with a series of tweets.
Speaking about Rashford’s campaign, Nick Ferrari remarked: “Marcus Rashfor we all know, or if your viewers don’t know, is a tremendously skilful football player.
“He is an equally skilful campaigner. He sent out a series of tweets this morning, brilliantly, ‘If you’ve just turned on your shower, think of the children where there’s no power. If you’ve just opened your fridge and you’ve got milk think of the children who don’t have any food.’ I mean brilliant.”

“Absolutely brilliant,” Schofield replied. “To be completely lauded here for this effort, for bringing the issue such massive attention.
“However, you’ve got ‘When you wake up this morning and run your shower, take a second to think about parents who have had their water turned off during lockdown #maketheuturn.’
“Thérèse Coffey, who is the Secretary of State replied ‘Water cannot be disconnected though.’”
“What the hell kind of reaction is that?” Schofield raged.
“4. Recognise children around the country are this morning innocently questioning ‘why?’ 9 out of 30 children in any given classroom are today asking ‘why?’ ‘Why does our future not matter?’ #maketheuturn.”
Responding to his series of tweets, Ms Coffey posted: “Water cannot be disconnected though.”
Ms Coffey has since tweeted Rashford again saying she welcomes his passion to support young children.
She wrote in view of her 23,700 followers: “Hi @MarcusRashford, I welcome your passion for supporting children and the most vulnerable in society – a passion we share.
