Passport photos can be an expensive part of getting a new travel document.
Since 2012, passports have decreased in price from £77.50 to £72.50, making the experience a bit easier.
Yet many headshots still get declined when they are sent with a new passport request.
The most common reason has since been revealed. Have you ever fallen short of it?
According to one Quora user, it is forgetting to take glasses off.
They explained on Quora: “Last year, more than 200,000 passport customers submitted poor quality photos which we couldn’t accept.
“The number one problem was glasses. We had to put their passport applications on hold because we couldn’t clearly identify them from their photo.”
Whilst reading glasses are allowed in the UK, they must have no glare on them, as well as not be tinted.
The UK Passport Service (UKPS) stated the most common problem is “obscured eyes”, which caused over 10 per cent of passports in the UK to be declined.
US passport holders are banned from wearing all glasses since 2016.
Martin Lewis has warned holidaymakers to check the validity of a passport before travelling after one family were turned away after their child had just two months remaining.
He explained: “Most passports are valid for ten years but some countries require you to have at least six months left on yours, if not you can be refused entry.”
