Overwatch Uprising end nears as Blizzard reveal new Xbox One and PS4 patch notes

The latest Overwatch event has proved a big hit with fans and it appears likely that more will be cooked up in the same vein for later in the year.

What makes the Overwatch Uprising end so different is that the new brawl helps celebrate the game’s own lore and history, rather than a worldwide event or date.

But while fans have been enjoying the new launch from Blizzard, the end is now drawing near.

Monday May 1 is the official end date for the Uprising event, meaning fans have only one more weekend to try and grab as much content as possible.

Uprising Loot Boxes, The special time capsules filled with mementos from the earlier eras of Overwatch, will be replaced on that date with the normal version.

Every Loot Box earned or purchased over the next few days will contain at least one skin, highlight intro, emote, spray, or player icon from the Overwatch Uprising collection.

While the contents of each Uprising Loot Box are random, you can unlock a variety of these cosmetic customisation options with credits in the Hero Gallery throughout the event’s duration.

Many fans will be hoping to grab Combat Medic Ziegler, Tracer’s Cadet Oxton skin, Talon Widowmaker, and the Blackwatch Genji which grabbed everyone’s attention in the recent comic release.

We don’t know the current times that the Overwatch Uprising end will occur on May 1, but it will be worth keeping an eye on Battle.net maintenance announcements, which could signal when it’s switch off.

With the time differences with Blizzard HQ in on the West Coast, fans in the UK may even get one more evening of Overwatch Uprising action before everything is reset, although there are no guarantees at this point.

If follows news of the new Overwatch patch notes released by the major publisher, regarding recent changes made on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

One of the biggest tweaks has been made to the tie-breaking system, with teams now needing to capture at least 33% of the objective before the system is activated.

“When the new tie-breaking system was implemented on April 11, 2017, teams only needed to capture 1% to trigger the system,” a development comment explains.

“This occasionally resulted in confusing situations when games would end without a lot of information about how the point was captured, due to the brief capture time.

“To alleviate this problem, we’re requiring that teams progress past 33% before the tie-breaking system begins tracking progress. If neither team manages to cross 33%, the match will end in a draw.”
