The 2019 Lunar New Year event has been given a January 24 launch date by Blizzard.
As with all Overwatch events, the Year of the Pig extravaganza runs for roughly three weeks, ending on February 18.
While the tweet doesn’t give much away, a follow-up post confirms that new skins will be revealed in the days leading up to the event.
“Stay tuned to our social channels as we reveal a new Overwatch Year of the Pig skin each day leading up to the event, from January 19 through 24,” Blizzard tells Express Online.
The first skin will be revealed on January 19, most likely around 6pm UK time.
With the Lunar New Year event make a comeback, players can expect to see the return of a fan-favourite game mode.
Capture the Flag is almost certain to make a return with a brand new map to accompany it.
“In Capture the Flag, teams face off, attempting to secure the enemy flag while the opposing team does the same,” reads the official Blizzard description.
Last year saw the introduction of Competitive Capture the Flag, complete with its own set of rewards.
The 2018 Lunar New Year event also introduced new Capture the Flag gameplay tweaks.
Flag pick-ups became instant, there was a five second delay when dropped and sudden death was introduced.
“When time runs out, the round starts over, the flags are moved closer to the center of the map, and the first team to capture wins.”
Blizzard is almost certain to make more changes for this year’s event, so stay tuned for more information.
