‘Night Before Christmas' home sells for £6million

The townhouse in Chelsea was once owned by Clement Clarke Moore who wrote the famous festive poem in 1822.

Built in 1841, the Greek revival-style pad boasts a parlour floor, an oversized garden and a private terrace.

Covering four storeys and 4,300 square feet, there are seven bedrooms and six bathrooms on site.

According to the New York Post, the elegant originally hit the market for $ 8.65M in August 2016.

Matthew Lesser from Leslie J. Garfield’s said: “In terms of what makes it special, the history of the house and its occupants makes it quite unique.

“On top of the former owner writing ‘The Night Before Christmas’, his father Benjamin actually officiated the inauguration of George Washington.

“The house periods details remain in excellent condition, with features Greek Revival plaster mouldings and medallions, four marble mantles, and inlaid parquet wood floors.”
