The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, the smallest model in the British automaker’s lineup, has been in production since 2011. Though it might still look fresh – one could make the argument that all Range Rover products are timeless – six years is a long time in the auto industry. The Evoque is the company’s most popular model, so it can’t afford to let things linger for too long. It seems that Land Rover agrees, as we have new spy shots of the next-gen Evoque.
Though all Land Rover products possess some semblance of off-road capabilities, customers considering the Evoque or the upcoming Velar car much more about style than approach and departure angles. Based on the photos, it seems like most of the changes appear to be happening up front, but there are a few far more drastic changes lurking beneath the surface. Expect the final design to look like a scaled-down Velar, with thinner new headlights, fog lights, and a new grille up front.
Out back, look for Velar style wrap-around taillights, and clean, flush lines. The slightly wider stance and elongated rear bumper hint at an all-new platform underneath. This may look like the current model, but there are changes afoot. While it should grow ever so slightly, don’t expect the new model to be drastically different than the outgoing one.
Expect a new turbocharged Ingenium four-cylinder engine under the hood. Don’t rule out a hot SVR version down the line, as the internal Jaguar Land Rover performance group has been spreading its magic throughout the automaker’s lineup. Look for a full reveal sometime next year.
