Melania Trump wears black jacquard coat to mark 16th anniversary of 9/11 with Donald Trump

In remembrance of the nearly 3,000 people who were killed when hijackers flew commercial airplanes into New York’s World Trade Centre, the Pentagon and a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania Melania, 47, and US President Donald Trump, 71, paid their respects by gathering with others outside the White House.

It was the first 9/11 commemoration for Trump while being in office.

The morning remembrance was scheduled for the time the first plane struck one of the Twin Towers on the morning of September 11, 2001.

The First Lady wrapped up in a black belted jacquard coat for the occasion.

The coat was was buttoned up to the top and belted tightly at the waist to accentuate her curves.

She chose to go without tights but finished off the outfit with a pair of black stilettos.

The US President wore a dark navy suit and a red tie for the occasion.

Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka, 35, was also in attendance.

Standing at the front of one line of White House officials, she was wearing a dark green lace dress.

The frock was sleeveless and featured banding round the waist as well as a fishtail hem.

Commemorations will be ongoing across much of the US.

In New York remembrance began at 8.46am with a citywide minute’s silence.

The names of all the victims will be read aloud at the 9/11 Memorial Museum while Trump also plans to participate in a special ceremony at the Pentagon.

Both Donald and Melania returned to the White House from Camp David yesterday.

Their weekend away was not a relaxing break for the couple, as the First Lady tweeted a picture of the pair taking part in a video conference regarding Hurricane Irma.

Upon their return to Washington, the First Lady wore a button down red shirt which accentuated all her curves.
