
He continued: “When you marry into the royal family that’s part of the deal.”
Both Nick and Piers’ co-host Susanna Reid disagreed, claiming Meghan and Harry are entitled to “a level of privacy”.
Susanna commented: “I can completely understand they want to control coverage of their child.”
“What impact do you think complaining about the stories they have had, as someone knows Meghan, have had on her personally?” she asked Nick.
“What is the toll it is taking that we aren’t seeing?”
Later in the interview, Piers said there were only a handful of occasions when he thought the media went “over the top” with their coverage of the royals.
“I’ll give you an example, I thought when William sued over the paps taking topless pics over a private place of Kate, I totally agreed with that and I was glad they won that,” he remarked.
“On this, there will be a battle over copyright but fundamentally, it’s a battle between Meghan and her father.
