Meghan Markle, 37, secretly travelled to Toronto last month without Prince Harry to visit Jessica Mulroney, her best friend and unofficial maid of honour at her wedding.
The royal flew commercially by Air Canada to the Canadian city, somewhere she once lived when acting in TV drama Suits.
Due to it being a personal trip, a private plane could not be charged for the trip.
Yet the frequent traveller still flew in style, according to a recent source.
The anonymous source told the Express Meghan spent her time with a glass of champagne as well as a cup of peppermint tea.
She also decided on a classic romantic film, Book Club, starring Diane Keaton and Jane Fonda for the eight-hour flight.
The source said: “Meghan was lovely. She had two secret service guys with her, but it was all very low key.
“Meghan had one glass of champagne before settling down to watch Book Club.
“She seemed very relaxed and sipped on peppermint tea during the journey.”
The royal previously revealed her top travel tips on her lifestyle blog The Tig, which she has since closed down.
Meghan explained how she always packed a small amount of tea tree oil with her when travelling.
On her website, she wrote it was great “if you get a cut, a mosquito bite, a small breakout, no matter what it is”.
Travel hand sanitiser is something she always takes to clean the plane before she settles in for the flight.
“When I get on a plane I always use some quick hand wipes or a travel sanitizer spray to wipe it all down,” she explained.
Other items include a scarf, probiotics and water which are packed into her bag when travelling.
Many of the members of the Royal Family opt to travel with a Globe-Trotter suitcase, a brand which has been used since the Queen’s honeymoon in 1947.
However, Meghan has been known to use a suitcase that, while not British heritage, has an origin based in the UK.
Called Ghurka, the brand is based in Connecticut and was modelled on British Ghurka camping gear.
She may also get her own coloured luggage tag when she goes on her first overseas tour later this year, something all Royal Family members have.
