MasterChef judge John Torode brutally REJECTS Piers Morgan as a contestant live on ITV

The 51-year-old Australian celebrity chef rejected Piers, 52, as a potential amateur cook on the BBC programme after co-host Susanna Reid asked on his behalf today.

“Please don’t. Don’t do that to us. You keep him,” John told Susanna, 46, as he rebuffed her request.

John was on the ITV breakfast programme to talk about MasterChef and was forced to defend himself after he used the word “brambles” to describe blackberries.

“In Scotland they are actually called brambles,” he explained to the Good Morning Britain hosting duo.

Piers quipped: “We don’t judge what we call food on what the Scots call it. These are blackberries. I will fight for the right to call them blackberries. I won’t have you, an Australian, citing Scots, ordering me to call them brambles.”

However, John was unimpressed and responded: “Nobody’s ordering you to do anything. The fact is they are called both things, brambles or blackberries.”

It looked like John was not the only guest Piers clashed with today after he “terminated” his interview with health secretary Jeremy Hunt.

He heard telling the Conservative politician, 50, at the end of their chat: “Jeremy Hunt, we’d love to continue but we’ve just noticed in the wings we have two of the greatest footballers in the history of our country.

“Geoff Hurst and Gordon Banks. World Cup winners, the greatest goalkeeper we have ever produced and the greatest goal scorer at any World Cup ever produced. So it’s a choice of talking to them – and no disrespect Jeremy Hunt – or you.”

Laughter was heard erupting from the crew in the studio as Jeremy said: “I can’t compete, I’m out of here.”

The ITV broadcaster finished off the segment by saying: “So this interview is terminated!”

MasterChef continues on BBC One this evening at 8pm.
