Man charged with terrorism offence over Buckingham Palace sword incident

A man has been charged in connection with a terrorist incident outside Buckingham Palace on Friday evening that left three police officers injured.

Mohiussunnath Choudhury, 26, was charged on Thursday with engaging in conduct in preparation for giving effect to his intention to commit an act or acts of terrorism.

The accused was arrested near the royal residence on Friday while armed with a 4-ft sword. 

Choudhury will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court later today, Scotland Yard confirmed.

A spokesman for the force said the man had been arrested by detectives from the Metropolitan Counter-Terrorism Command.
